Recently the board has made several decisions that have impacted residents’ wallets positively. We continue to look for ways to provide the highest quality water and wastewater treatment services while also saving residents as much money as possible.

Lowered – Debt Service Tax for 2024
At the October monthly meeting, the board of directors approved a lowered debt service tax rate for the 2024 calendar year. The tax rate was set at $.69 per $100 of property value. With the exception of 2022 the tax rate has continued to be approved at lower rates year over year.
Saved – Harris County Flood Control Project
Our district was selected for three flood mitigation projects, funded by the Harris County Flood Control District (HCFCD). GUD assumed responsibility for the costs related to the relocation of our lines. However, we successfully negotiated an agreement with HCFCD to cover a portion of the expenses, provided that property owners relocated any encroachments. Thanks to the cooperation of our residents, the district saved over $600,000, helping to prevent further increases in costs to the community.
